Terms of Business

  • Artworks are dispatched following receipt of payment.
  • Delivery within the UK is free.
  • International shipping is available on request and at cost.
  • Deliveries are required to be signed for.
  • Items are insured up to the point they are signed for.

Customers are politely asked to inspect goods upon arrival or as soon as possible thereafter.

A 14 day (from receipt of artwork) returns policy operates. The return of an artwork is at the buyer’s cost and expense and the artwork must be professionally shipped in a protective packaging of no less a standard than that which in it was sent.

In the unlikely event of a breakage having occurred during the process of delivery, customers are asked to alert the courier upon discovery. If discovery is made during the later opening of packaging customers are asked to make an immediate photographic record and thereafter alert Fine Art Dorset Limited.

Customers are politely asked to exercise extreme care when opening packaging and especially so if they suspect broken glass. This is to avoid further damage to the item itself, injury to themselves and any collateral affect to the environment in which the item is being unwrapped.

In instances where it is considered unsafe to undertake the opening of a package, customers are advised to contact a professional framer.

Fine Art Dorset Limited cannot accept any liability for damage or injury.

Most items sold by Fine Art Dorset Limited have been in existence for more than 30 years; many are older still. Customers are requested to understand that frames, mounts, and glazing are seldom in perfect condition and sometimes an aging effect can apply to the works themselves. Fine Art Dorset Limited takes every care to describe the condition of items but customers must assume and accept some degree of imperfection and a potential need to repair or renew frames or mounts.

Part of the experience of owning art is deciding on its presentation. This might involve re-mounting and re-framing for aesthetic or stylistic reasons but will always involve the choice of placement of an item within an interior environment. Most often customers will want and be able to undertake these decisions themselves or with the help of trusted expertise. For purchases of £3000.00 and above Fine Art Dorset Limited can offer a presentation and installation service in return for a fee.

Again, for a fee, Fine Art Dorset Limited can also offer a re-framing, mounting and glazing service.

Infrequently, some pictures that are priced over £1000.00 net are subject to an Artist’s Resale Charge. This charge is met by Fine Art Dorset Limited and included in the price. If an Artists’ Resale charge applies it will either be noted in the description or made known to the buyer upon enquiry.
