Martyn Mackrill(b.1962)
Martyn Mackrill is a distinguished British Postwar & Contemporary marine painter who, in his work, has captured the spirit of the Corinthian era.
In that vein he recently illustrated a reprinted edition of Erskine Childer’s 1903 secret service thriller, ‘The Riddle of the Sands’ and in his domestic life afloat could be a letter day Arthur Davies.
Born on the Isle of Wight, respectively the son and grandson of a merchant seaman and trawler operator he grew up with boats and the sea as his way of life.
He studied art at Plymouth and Sunderland.
He is Honorary Painter to the Royal Thames Yacht Club and is represented exclusively by Messum’s who exhibit his work almost annually.
