Charles William Taylor (1878 – 1960)
Charles William Taylor was born and grew up in Wolverhampton and first studied art at Wolverhampton School of Art. Where he specialised in wood engraving. As a mature student Taylor continued his studies at the Royal College of Art, later himself teaching at the School of Art in Southend-on-Sea. As a member of the Royal Society of Painters he exhibited on 58 occasions also exhibiting 36 pictures at the Royal Academy, 15 at the Royal Hibernian Academy, once at the Royal Institute of Watercolour Painters, and twice at The Royal Scottish Academy.
Much of his work is held by the British Council.
