Paul is an architect, artist, art collector and teacher, living in West Dorset and London. Educated at Kingston School of Architecture, his professional career included commercial, residential and infrastructure design and latterly, property development. He now teaches architecture at the Arts University Bournemouth where, for him, drawing by hand is a fundamental part of designing.
Paul’s own drawings can be found on his Instagram page, where his strongest and most direct influences are historic buildings, the English landscape and his teacher, the Devon based artist, Paul Riley.
As a collector, Paul is interested in anything from the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, architectural and mechanical imagery, sculpture, and watercolour in the English tradition. From his experience, Paul believes that the personal ownership of art can mean anything from a cherished postcard or a child’s first illustrated book, to a first investment in an original piece, or a full collection. In fact, any artefact that is permitted to become familiar and meaningful to us, will enrich our lives and should therefore be regarded as ‘art’.
